Thank you for taking the time to download and try out this Dragonlance
Edition of the D&D Character Generator released by Wizards of the Coast.
Since this project stretches the original purpose of the CharGen, some
things in the DL Core Rules don't work exactly in this Dragonlance Edition.
Please take a look at 2. Beta Status for special considerations when
creating some characters.

1. Installation
===============

IMPORTANT: You must have the D&D Character Generator DEMO v1.2 already
installed to use this modification. You can download it for free from:
http://www.wizards.com/mastertools

First, go to the directory where you installed the Character Generator. By
default, the directory is usually:

c:\program files\wizards of the coast\d&d character generator demo

Second, open the "Resources" sub-directory and put the "database.pak" file
in there. You will need to rename the original "database.pak" file to
"database.original" or something else to backup the original database. You
can also delete it but if you wish to return to the original database you
will need to re-install the Character Generator.

Finally, open the Character Generator and create your Silvanesti or
Minotaur character!

This modification couldn't have been possible without Byngl's database
editor. You can download it at: http://byngl2.homestead.com/

Here is a list of people that have reported bugs to me and therefor
helping me make this mod a lot better than it would have been otherwise.

Eric Ingalls - for warning me restricted classes weren't restricted and
that the -4 racial negative modifiers for Irda, Kagonesti and
Minotaurs wasn't being shown in the re-roll stats screen.

3.1 Reporting Bugs
------------------
If you'd like to help make this Dragonlance Edition better you only have to
report any bugs that may appear. Mail me at rconnery@esoterica.pt and
thanks in advance!

3.2 List of Known Bugs
----------------------

Okay "bugs" is not the correct word since all of these problems occur
because the original CharGen was never intended to be customised in this
way. Hopefully, I'll find workarounds to these bugs.

1--> The +3 natural armor bonus to AC that minotaurs receive in not
factored into the stats and must be added after printing the character
because it was never intended to have Character races with natural armour.

2--> Prestige Classes cannot be used because the CharGen doesn't have these
functions enabled so you must modify characters accordingly.

3--> Some bottom screen messages are too big and are clipped. This is
easily fixed.

4--> Because DL differs from the Core rules, some priests of a certain
alignment can choose forbidden deities to worship (for instance Neutral
Good priests can be priests of the Neutral deities but they shouldn't.
Refer to An Ansalonian Gazetteer for details.)

5--> Priests of Takhisis that choose War as one of their domains don't
receive Weapon Focus (heavy mace) due to a corruption of the database.
They should receive this feat for free when choosing War and this must be
manually corrected after printing the character.

6--> The races' restricted class is not enforced. Another example how this
modification delves new ground with the CharGen. This bug is probably
permanent unless the CharGen itself (not just the database) is modified,
something which is, firstly, illegal for me to do and secondly, take a heck
of a lot of time. :\

7--> The Irda, Minotaur and Kagonesti -4 racial penalties to ability scores
don't show up in the ability re-roll screen. Apparently the first roll
takes into account these penalties but the re-roll screen doesn't show them
and ignores them. Also, if you choose the buy method you accumulate ability
points... something very, very wrong.

4. Core Rules
=============

This Dragonlance Edition CharGen is supported by the Ansalonian Gazetteer,
which is an unofficial D&D 3rd Edition Dragonlance Campaign Setting
authored by myself. If you use other conversions this modification to the
Character Generator will not be as useful. You will need it to make full
use of the characters the same way that you need the PHB and DMG to make
full use of the original CharGen. You can download An Ansalonian Gazetteer
at http://www.geocities.com/dl3e
